Garhbeta College is a prestigious educational institution located in Medinipur. It was established in the year 1948 with only 50 students. The college is affiliated to Vidyasagar University, Midnapore. It is recognized by UGC and the Govt. of West Bengal.
Garhbeta College currently offers honors courses in thirteen subjects in Arts, Science and Commerce. Besides, there are three more general subjects and one professional course, viz. B.P.Ed.
- Students seeking admission must submit different online application forms. Candidates must submit separate applications for Honors and General Courses.
- The minimum eligibility to apply for UG courses is 10+2 qualification from a recognized board.
- For admission to B.P.Ed. program, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 50% marks having participation in the Inter-College/ Inter-Zonal/ District/ School Competition in sports and games as recognized by the AIU/ IOA/ SGFI/ Govt. in India.
- Selection in the courses is based on merit, counselling process and an entrance test (for B.P.Ed).
- Students selected for counselling after the publication of merit list will have to produce original documents at the time of verification/ counselling.
- Candidates can apply for direct admission after counseling to fill up the vacant seats.

Garhbeta College UG Admission 2023: B.Sc, B.Com, BA, BCA, and B.P.Ed
Garhbeta College offers undergraduate level degree courses in the disciplines of Science, Commerce, Arts, Computer Science and Physical Education. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these programs is 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized board.
Selection in B.Sc courses is based on the merit of the qualifying examination followed by counselling. For BCA, the selection is based on merit. Direct admission is done in B.Com (Hons). B.P.Ed. admissions are done on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate in the entrance test (written test, sports proficiency test, physical fitness test and marks obtained in the qualifying examination).

- Candidates who have scored 45% marks in Mathematics in 10+2 in Arts/ Science stream are eligible for B.Com, provided they have secured a minimum aggregate of 45% marks.
- For commerce students, minimum 50% marks in Accountancy are required for B.Com. program.
- Candidates who have passed 10+2 with Computer Applications, Statistics or Business Mathematics are also eligible for the BCA program.
- Any student remaining absent for 15 consecutive working days after the commencement of classes without any valid reason will be liable to canceled for his/her studentship.
Garhbeta College Application Process 2023
Candidates seeking admission to Garhbeta College can apply through online mode by visiting the college website. Candidates are selected through institute level counselling on the basis of merit. They need to click on ‘Online Admission’ under the Admission tab and proceed to fill the application form. The process of application is as follows:
Candidates must bring self-attested photocopies and original copies of all relevant documents for counselling. The following documents must be submitted during counselling:
- Admit card of Madhyamik/Equivalent Examination
- Mark sheet of Madhyamik/Equivalent Examination
- Mark sheet of H.S./Equivalent Examination
- Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended
- SC/ST/PC/Minority Community certificate from the appropriate authority (where applicable)
- One stamp size photo signed by the student
