The college is approved by Punjab Nurses Registration Council (PNRC), Chandigarh and Indian Nursing Council (INC), New Delhi. It offers General Nursing & Midwifery (GNM) course. SERI has separate accommodation for girls and boys with all modern facilities

Teaching methods at the SERI include lectures, live demonstration, group discussions, case studies, seminars, field visits to various areas of medical sciences for clinical practice e.g. Medical Ward, Maternity Ward, Gynae Ward, Gynae OPD, Gynae OT, Paediatric Ward, Psychiatrice Ward, ICU, CCU, Dialysys Unit, etc. The main aim of the college is to provide advanced education and specialization in nursing.
