KMC Kolkata Faculty

The faculty at the college is highly qualified, with many having UK qualifications and extensive rural and urban experience. There are 14 subjects offered, with professors, assistant professors, and post-graduate trainees (PGTs) facilitating lectures and demonstration classes. The anatomy dissection classes are conducted by assistant professors. Faculty are generally helpful, friendly, and enthusiastic, offering interactive classes with personal attention and providing worksheets and question papers weekly. However, only 25% of the faculty are actively interested in teaching, as many are burdened with patient care.

Communication is primarily in a mix of Bengali and English, which poses challenges for non-local students. There are multiple exams, including 4 university exams and 9 semesters throughout the course. Practical training is emphasized, with faculty providing hands-on experience in operation theaters and wards, although some departments have faculty who are less engaged. The institution is noted as Asia's oldest medical college, with a faculty-to-student ratio that is satisfactory and a positive faculty-student relationship.
