The University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences is a constituent of the Panjab University. The institute was established in 1944 and is located in Chandigarh, Punjab.
University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers B.Pharm course of four years duration and M.Pharm course of two years duration in six specializations. Of these M.Pharm courses in Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance and Pharmaceutical Analysis are self-financed and rest are Regular courses.

Candidates applying for B.Pharm course must have passed 10+2 with English, Physics and Chemistry and any of Mathematics/ Biology / Biotechnology with at least 50% marks.
Applicants of B.Pharma course have to sir for of PU- CET entrance exam. In preparing final merit, HSC performance and PU – CET performance will be given 25% and 75% weight age respectively for admission.

It offers an M.Pharm course in six specializations. Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance and Pharmaceutical Analysis courses of M.Pharm are self-financed and rest are regular courses.
Candidates applying should have passed B.Pharm or equivalent from AICTE/ PCI approved Institutions/ Universities. For admission to M.Pharm courses, only GPAT qualified candidates are considered.
Admission to all M. Pharm. courses is made on the basis of combined merit calculated from aggregate marks obtained in B. Pharm. 4-years Course (30% weight age) and GPAT score (70% weight age).

Candidates who have completed an M.Pharm course from a recognized institute are eligible to pursue the PhD course in Pharmacy from University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The selection is done on the basis of marks scored in GPAT entrance exam.

Candidates seeking admission to B.Pharm courses need to apply online for the PU-CET entrance exam. The steps to apply for same are given below:-
Candidates passing PU – CET will have to fill an admission form. Both the Entrance Test Form and Admission Form need to be filled separately by them. To fill the admission form candidates need to follow below steps:
M.Pharm course applicants need to apply online for admission. The steps to apply are:-
1) Jaswant Singh Gill Pharma Scholarship (JSGPS): Scholarship of INR 24,000 per semester is awarded to three students from each year of B.Pharma course.
2) Jaswant Singh Gill Pharma Research Fellowship (JSGPRF) to be awarded to a student enrolled in PhD Scholarship amount is INR. 20000/- plus INR 4000(HRA) for 2 years.
The scholarship is awarded to the Ward of ‘C’ class University employees on the basis of merit of Entrance test for admission to first year Course.
In case any Ward of C' class University employee is not available the scholarship may be awarded to the Ward of ‘B-class University employee failing which Ward of ‘A' class University employees @ INR 600/- p.m. (for 10 months).
It is given to two candidates who are sons and daughters of members of Defence Services studying in the Punjab University affiliated colleges.
Preference will be given to the children of those who are disabled or have been killed in Military operations @ INR 400 p.m. (for 10 months) (each).
To be awarded to 25 students On Merit-cum-Means basis @ INR 400 p.m. (for 10 months)
For candidates belonging to Kashmiri Migrants category, relaxation in cut-off percentage is given up to 10%. 55.5% of the seats in each course will be treated as belonging to the General Category.
Rest 44.5% seats will be treated as belonging to the Reserved Category, as per details are given below:
