Master of Arts [M.A] [Sociology] From Nipissing University

Academic Eligibility:

• Applicants must hold an Honours BA in Sociology or a related field (e.g. Anthropology, Criminology, or Criminal Justice) and at least a 75% average on the last ten full (20 half/semester courses) courses completed at the time of application, or equivalent qualifications to be considered for admission.

Indian Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Applicants whose first language is not English are required to submit the results of an acceptable English Language Proficiency test.

The minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.

• The Nipissing University MA in Sociology – Applied Social Research degree will provide students with the experience to work in a wide variety of occupations and fields where research, analysis and interpretation skills are required.
• Graduates of the program have used their skills in policy studies and evaluation to find work in government or in not-for-profit and private sector organizations.
• Many have found rewarding careers as public servants, research analysts, focus group facilitators, social epidemiologists, demographers, or as police, customs, military and probation officers. In addition, graduates of this program are candidates for more advanced studies at the doctoral level in sociology, social psychology, anthropology, criminology and related fields.
