- All of our graduate programs in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering are offered through the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering which combines the research strengths and resources of Carleton University and the University of Ottawa.
- As a graduate student at Carleton, you have access to a variety of professional development resources. These include skill workshops, one-on-one career and writing consultations, career-oriented events, and even structured programs.
- You should apply for admission for either Fall or Winter.
- They do not offer courses in the Summer (May to August) term. Applying to Summer term is only possible if you have already arranged with a professor to undertake either a Directed Study or an Independent Study.
- Once the Chair of your defence inputs the outcome of your examination, you will receive an email notifying you to upload your final thesis in Carleton Central.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have a 4-year bachelor’s degree in a related field from a recognized institution.
- The related fields include a UG degree in Marketing, Finance, Arts, Science, Government, Retail, Manufacturing.
- GPA of at least 3.0/4.33 (B grade) which is the equivalent of 8.0/12 on Carleton’s scale is required to be eligible for the program.
Work Experience Eligibility:
Students must have a 2-years of professional work experience to apply for the MBA program.
Others:
Students without related academic experience or work experience students are also encouraged to apply, given they fulfil the following requirement:
- Students who do not possess 2-year of professional work experience must complete the Internship portion of the MBA program.
- Two academic recommendations from professors are required unless the candidate meets the work experience criteria.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Completed of both a Bachelor’s (3 years) degree and a Master’s degree.
- Or, completed a Bachelor’s degree requiring 4 years of study (e.g., B.Pharm., M.B.B.S, or B.Arch).
- Or, obtain a first-class division (75% or above, Distinction or Outstanding).
- Or, complete 3-year UG from an institution accredited by either AACSB, EQUIS or AMBA.
Submission of GMAT scores is compulsory for this program, however, students may submit a GRE score too in lieu of that.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.

VISA & Work Study
VISA
- Students need a Study Visa to stay in Canada. After receiving the study permit, they can apply for the Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
- The cost of the Study Visa is 112 USD and valid for the length of the study program, plus an extra 90 days.
- At the time of VISA application, students need to provide various documents:
- Application form and Study Plan.
- Completed IMM 1294 (Application for Study Permit Made Outside of Canada).
- Letter of Acceptance (Student Information for a Study Visa from Carleton University).
- Valid Passport (photocopy or scan).
- Biometrics (fingerprints and photo)
- Financial Evidence.
- No criminal record certificate
- Results of a medical exam.
