The Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering is a 4-year program at Carleton University.
Students will have the opportunity to apply to the Co-operative Education Program.
A minimum of four work terms are required to obtain the Co-op designation on their degree.
Students will learn how to engineer complex systems based on computers and acquire an understanding of computers as integrated software/hardware systems.
The BEng in Computer Systems program offers:
- Areas of computer systems organization, software engineering, real-time systems, electronics, communications systems, and information networks, and general systems design;
- An emphasis on problem-solving skills and hands-on experience through laboratory and design work; and

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

High School degree with a minimum of 70% or (B) overall average.
Students must have a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
A minimum grade of 60% is required introductory courses and a 60% overall average in all courses required for the certificate.
Proof of English proficiency may be required for international applicants, whose first language is not English.
Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL to get admission in this program.

Career and Placement after Course

After graduating from the Computer Systems Engineering degree program at Carleton, students will be able to design software or computer hardware. Students will have special skills in working at the interface of hardware and software, especially in the area of telecommunications, embedded and autonomous systems, microcontroller applications, and the engineering of computer-based systems.
