The Diploma in Power Engineering Technology at Saskatchewan Polytechnic is offered as 2 years program.

Saskatchewan Polytechnic offers two levels of training:
- the two-year Power Engineering Technology diploma program
- the one-year Power Engineering Technician certificate program.
In the Diploma program, students gain knowledge and skills in the operation of power (steam) plants and industrial processes, including:
- air conditioning and refrigeration
- boiler operations (high and low pressure)
- computer monitoring of plant operations
- controls and instrumentation
- environmental (pollution) management
- equipment checks and maintenance
- pump operations and water treatment systems
The program combines classroom learning with hands-on labs, power labs, computer simulations, and industry work experiences.
It is a 72 weeks program that includes two work experiences.
Students also get the opportunity to do the certification course program.
Students can work as a power engineer or process operator in utility (power) plants, refineries, pulp, and paper mills, breweries, mines, gas processing plants, heavy oil upgraders, etc.
The average salary of the program goes up to 38,000 USD.

Academic Eligibility:

Students must complete Grade 12 with Foundations of Math 30 or Pre-Calculus 30 from a recognized college or institution.
Students hold a minimum overall average of 65%.
Students must have a GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Language Requirments:

Students must be able to understand and fluently speak the language of instruction (English) in the program. Proof of linguistic proficiency may be required.
Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL Scores.
