York University Programs: Tuition fees, Ranking, Scholarships, Application Deadlines & Entry Requirements

We get a lot of choices on what we want to choose for our next course and having a lot of options gives us a chance to only choose those courses that we want to do.

Tuition fee for my program is $32500 ($3250 per course)

I did not find the curriculum of my campus satisfied me. I was so unhappy with it that I dropped part of my degree (which was a minor in History) and primarily focused on my English degree. Even within my English degree - I only found a few classes that had has reading recent publications versus classics, which what I primarily studied.

Many forces played a factor for me to choose the Glendon campus (extension of York University) as my school. I liked the fact that the classes were small enough for me to establish person relationships with my professors, the school had a small amount of students in all four years - making it feel like less of a jungle. And finally, I was able to peruse and finish my studies in French for it was the only campus in Toronto to offer it as part of my English B.A.

I personally feel the course curriculum needs to be updated every few years because a field like computer science has updates almost every day. The curriculum in general is useful to this day but since it's probably not frequently updated, some might say it doesn't have important things that is relevant at this time. An example would be: The curriculum teaches coding languages like Java, HTML, JavaScript and all that which is very relevant today but it doesn't teach newer languages like python which many people prefer to use.

I picked this University because I had a friend from my hometown who was attending the university doing the same degree. He referred me to the university and told me the program and professors were good. I picked the program because of the job prospects after graduation.

Its hard at first, so we need to keep up with the syllabus .

I wanted to study in Ontario, and York University is one of the best schools present, it has a great engineering department and the campus is culturally diverse.

I think the course curriculum was pretty good. As mentioned earlier, many different subjects were offered - which allowed made me learn how to develop foundational skills in different areas. For example, I learned programming languages like Java, C, and Fortran and I also learned CAD modelling softwares such as Solidworks, NX10, and Creo.

York University is the only university in Canada with a Space Engineering program. I found the syllabus and courses to be very interesting and this program offered courses pertaining to mechanical, electrical, geomatics, and computer engineering. I had applied to 3 universities in the GTA area but got selected here first. My grade 12 average was 89.5%.

So far it seems interesting.

I am getting an OSAP loan, along with $1000 in scholarships. York has a variety of scholarships and I'm sure there are plenty that is offered for international students. Although I should be more interested, I haven't looked into many scholarships and/or bursaries. If I am not mistaken, there's a specific category for international students to find easily.

Schulich School of Business is said to have a faculty member for every 7 students. The class sizes are pretty good, ranging between 35-55 students. This helps in getting personal attention from professors. Most of the professors have a Ph.D., and some are in the process of pursuing it. The teaching assistants I had were in the middle of their master's degree and were considered part-time faculty.

The tuition fee is around $30,000 per year, which converts to rupees 15 lac. I availed a loan from Punjab National Bank. I was not awarded any entrance scholarship, but based on my academic performance, I was awarded a scholarship of $2500 in 2nd year. It is called the International Student Scholarship. The criteria are to have a GPA of at least 3.4/4 and maintain an excellent financial record with York.

For the most part, the school curriculum is based on what the student may decide to do post-schooling. For a person to be successful, they must be able to communicate and work with others and in some cases, it may be with people that are not necessarily likable. Personal development is groomed into student just as much as job-oriented training.

Full-time tuition for most non-professional programs (5 courses) compulsory supplementary fees is $7,743 - $26,975 Textbooks and supplies cost around $1,000 - $1,500 and these cost varies by program.
