UBC is a very diverse and supportive community where everyone can feel free to pursue their passion. I'm fascinated with the versatility and applications of computer science. My program offers me the platform to apply it in business settings and bridge the gap between business and technology. It is also competitive and offers great job opportunities.

Course Curriculum

7

The computer science course I've taken so far are very integrated with the current industrial trends and models. We are able to get many hands-on experiences of coding and software construction.

Exams

For application, I had to submit my transcripts and personal statements where we were asked to write one or two paragraphs for each question, which focuses on our past experiences and our core values as well as beliefs. Yes, I have one round of interviews as a part of the application. It was conducted in the format of an online video presentation. Applicants are given a question and required to answer it referring to their past experiences which should reflect some certain qualities the school/your program value.

Placement

7

We have the Co-op program which aims to help us find job and get more job experiences before graduating.

Internship

Not yet get.

Fees

Around 54,000 - 55,000 (CAD)

Scholarship

I got the IMES Scholarship which is $20,000 /year. We don't need extra applications for this award. Every international applicant of UBC is automatically enrolled into and considered for this award.

Faculty

Adam Saunders who teaches COMM205 is the best professor in Sauder. He makes R so interesting. The course contents are extremely useful and relevant in the workplace as well.

Hostel

I lived on campus in my first year. I had a shared double in term 1, hoping to make friends. And I later switched to a single room in term 2. The infrastructure in general is pretty nice. The RAs would hold activities that help us get to know our floor and house better.
