First and foremost, the campus and location. I love Northern Ontario and it's wildlife. There is an overwhelming feeling of calm whenever I am in Thunder Bay from the moment I land, very different from the hustle and bustle of Toronto. Secondly, the faculty. I first met the faculty at a college/university fair in Toronto in my grade 12 year, and they were so nice and welcoming. They weren't condescending or judgmental and answered all my questions - unlike the other schools. Thirdly, I wanted to be out on my own. Thunder Bay is very far from my home and when I was coming here, that's what I needed.

Course Curriculum

8

I like the curriculum. It's challenging at times, but I like that challenge.

Exams

The main reason was that I get both a diploma and a degree in my program. I also loved the class sizes, I've had classes of less than 20 students - that's unheard of at this level.

Internship

There are on-campus jobs that work around your class schedule and your exam schedule - these jobs are limited to 10 hours a week. Individual programs also may have internship opportunities - these are program-specific and it's better to ask your faculty. I have no interaction with these placements.

Fees

There are scholarships available to international, full and part-time students. My program is approximated $9000 per year, which is the average for the school. Most scholarships are based on financial need. Loans are available through the government and financial institutions. Fees cover tuition, gym, bus pass, student unions and societies, and other aspects of education.

Examination Structure

Exams are during a two week period at the end of the semester. They are scheduled by the university - not the faculty - and are 3 hours max. Exams are written and happen for most courses.

Faculty

For the most part, I like the faculty. We have small class sizes which I find really beneficial.
