Recommended by high school advisor considering my grades and history. Also because of the involvement on campus is a really important part of SFU and I like to get involved in different volunteer opportunities.
Course Curriculum
I think it?s really interesting and I have to work hard because it?s getting competitive these days. It is what I expected before coming here and it is preparing me for what I want to do in the future. The curriculum seems that there was a lot of hard work designing it.
Exams
IELTS was the only exam I took as it is required to meet the entry-level English course or you have to take it after coming to SFU.
Placement
They're really good from big companies. They also have international placements and job opportunities. They also provide interaction with different companies at a big fair each semester and send out regular emails regarding the positions.
Internship
Yes, it does have a co-op program that is well structured. I got an 8 month co-op in January this year and I'll be starting it in May. The co-op advisors are good and have good resources regarding interview, resume and cover letter preparation.
Events
We celebrate festivals including Eid and Persian New Year which I used to celebrate back home. We celebrate all kinds of festivals especially organized by international student services such as Holi, Diwali, Chinese New Year, Christmas, etc.
Fees
Fees structure is okay and I feel it's fair. Just a bit more for international students compared to domestic students.
Scholarship
Yes, I applied for scholarships and bursaries each semester. I also used to work as a work-study student.
Examination Structure
The exam structure is fair and is divided between midterms, quizzes, assignments, papers, labs, research, and final exams. The exam structure is well explained by the professor at the beginning of the semester.
Faculty
My faculty is well structured and the advisors are available whenever needed. There are clubs and societies which discuss what is beneficial for students and students have their word as well.
Hostel
I live with 2 other people off-campus and I think this way it's cheaper than the residence at SFU. Also, I cook food for myself and it helps save other expenses. Also, it's not far from university so it's convenient.
