I chose this university mostly because of the location. I chose this program because of my interest in psychology and media. My university is the 10th best in the world for my chosen field of study. I also chose it because of the great extra curricular opportunities.

Course Curriculum

8

I would not say that it is the most relevant to today, but I am only in my first year. Covering the basics is important and the professors are very good at teaching the fundamentals of any course that a student may want to pursue in the future.

Exams

My university required a good GPA, sufficient extra curriculars, and decent level of proficiency in English. They look for driven students with motivation to learn through research and experimentation. My scores: IELTS - 8, minimum requirement - 6.5

Placement

8

I don't know much about this, but I've heard upper year students are very happy with their prospects for placements. UBC is very highly ranked in terms of placement/research opportunities.

Events

All the clubs are super inclusive. There is a club for almost everything and students usually find their places in one or another. There are many libraries on campus and some of them are open 24/7. There is a bike system to get around campus. There is also a free tutoring service open to all students. Sports facilities are plenty.

Scholarship

No

Faculty

8

The faculty and staff are very kind! They are always open to questions and extra support. My favourite professor until now has been Dr. Saunders who taught WRDS! Also, if there are any concerns, the student representatives are always willing to help.

Hostel

7

Unlike many other universities, UBC gives their students an opportunity for a whole lot of privacy. Students may opt for single rooms and minimally shared bathrooms. It is a little on the expensive side, around $1000 with a compulsory meal plan for first years.
