FAQs
Ques. What should I do if my intake has been postponed until Fall 2023?
Ans. You must notify IRCC of any changes in your intake. You can do so by using the IRCC Web form to upload your updated intake Letter of Acceptance.
Ques. I'm currently learning online from my own home. Is it possible to apply for PGWP outside of Canada and then return for the job later?
Ans. If you've completed more than half of your program in Canada and want to continue the rest online from your home country, keep in mind that you can apply for your PGWP from anywhere in the world. However, you cannot enter Canada on an approved PGWP WITHOUT a valid employment offer, as this scenario is not deemed a non-optional or non-discretionary travel reason under existing travel limitations.
Ques. Is it possible to defer the program for a year if I get accepted?
Ans. No, you must complete it during the calendar year in which you are accepted. If you turn down the offer, you'll have to reapply for future consideration.
Ques. When we return to in-class delivery, what happens to my study permit?
Ans. By the time SAIT resumes in-class instruction, all overseas students will require a study permit. Please remember that it is the duty of the student to ensure that they are qualified to apply for a study permit. If you don't have your permit, you won't be able to continue in your program when it resumes in person.
Ques. During the COVID-19 pandemic, how can I take my English Language Proficiency Test?
Ans. For Spring 2023, Summer 2023, Fall 2023, and Winter 2024 admission, the Duolingo English Test has been added to SAIT's list of acceptable options for demonstrating English Language Proficiency (ELP). SAIT has also extended the time period during which existing ELP test scores will be accepted to two years.
International applicants should be aware that if they are unable to provide paperwork to validate their ELP, they may be assessed on campus when operations allow in-person attendance again, and their program/academic completion date may be modified as a result.
Ques. Is it required for international students to produce original documents while applying?
Ans. No, color scanned copies (PDF format is preferred) are allowed for the initial application/assessment procedure. When you register for classes after being accepted, you will be asked to provide the originals for verification. If you have post-secondary transcripts, you may be asked to provide the originals directly to us from the institution that issued them.
