By connecting with existing and previous students, I understood that RMIT provided a good balance of academic and extracurricular activities which is important for one's overall development.

Course Curriculum

8

The Master of Business Information Technology course at RMIT has a good balance of practical and theoretical learning. It is suitable for any IT professional or graduate who wants to move towards the business side of Information Technology. The difficulty of the assignments is moderate and involves performing tasks that an IT Manager/ Business Analyst/ Project Manager would perform in a real workplace.

Exams

My score: PTE - Overall 90/90, Reading 90/90, Listening 90/90, Speaking 90/90, Writing 90/90. The Requirements for my course - PTE - Overall 50/90, Reading 58/90, Listening 58/90, Speaking 58/90, and Writing 58/90.

Placement

7

There is no campus placement system like in India. Students have to find their own employment. The closest thing to campus placements is graduate positions. These are entry-level positions offered by many companies in Australia. Students can apply for these opportunities in their final year and go through the process of multiple rounds of psychometric tests and interviews. Companies usually advertise on university job boards or hold seminars on campus to educate students about these opportunities. Note that the number of graduate positions is very small compared to the number of applicants, so there is always a healthy competition that students have to face. The salary you earn aligns with your knowledge and more importantly, past experience. With approximately one or two years of prior work experience, you can expect AUD $60000 as a starting salary.

Internship

No, I didn't get an internship.

Events

RMIT has a very beautiful campus in the Melbourne CBD where I studied. The buildings are architectural marvels with exquisite designs. Most of the classrooms are spacious and well-lit to create a nice atmosphere. RMIT has 3 additional campuses around Melbourne. For motivated students, RMIT has a number of clubs and societies that they can join. Additionally, there are events and competitions happening almost every week. Seminars and workshops for career and personal development also happen in dedicated areas on a daily basis. While the sports facilities in the city are limited, students get discounts at gyms and other facilities throughout Melbourne.

Fees

The program fee is $39000 per year.

Scholarship

No, I didn't receive any scholarship.

Faculty

8

The faculty and student ratio is 1:15. The faculty is very approachable and highly experienced in either academia or industry. Professor Barry McIntyre is one such example. A very experienced and knowledgeable person from whom students can learn a lot about life and work.

Hostel

7

Student accommodation is quite expensive and will cost over $200 per week. It is more affordable to find other students and take up house-sharing accommodation. While some students choose to live in the Melbourne CBD (Central Business District or downtown), living there is very expensive and places are overcrowded. I chose to live in a nearby suburb, about half an hour away from the university by public transportation. It was more convenient and economical.
