New Delhi: Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani has recently collaborated with Australia’s RMIT University to launch a joint BITS-RMIT academy to offer joint dual degree programs to interested students.
As per BITS Pilani, this collaboration with RMIT University will provide students with an opportunity to experience the RMIT academic environment and study. It will also offer a chance to study at RMIT Melbourne campus for two years as a part of dual degree programs.
The BITS-RMIT academy will offer students various undergraduate engineering programs, PhD programs and dual degree courses from the academic session 2023-24. The courses offered by BITS and RMIT experienced faculty members to students studying at BITS.
Referring to this collaboration, Prof Souvik Bhattacharyya, Vice Chancellor of BITS Pilani said, "The academy will offer unique programs leveraging the excellence and legacy of BITS Pilani and RMIT University systems, with faculty, students and researchers in close collaboration”.
“We look forward to a new era of academic cooperation that will define and deliver the best attributes of a global graduate and citizen”, he added. The MoU was signed by Prof Souvik Bhattacharyya and Prof Alec Cameron, Vice-Chancellor and President of RMIT University.
In addition to this, Jason Clare MP, Australia’s Minister for Education; Barry Farrell, Australia’s High Commissioner to India; Mathew Johnson, Australia’s Minister Counsellor (Education) to India, and several other dignitaries were also present at the event.
Professor V Ramgopal Rao, Vice Chancellor-designate and Professor S K Barai were also present at the signing ceremony. Under this collaboration, the academy will aim to provide students with high-quality, unique learning experiences and research opportunities.
Speaking on this occasion, Prof Alec Cameron said, “The academy marks a strategic step in strengthening RMIT's profile and presence in India through partnering with a high-performing University. It shows the shared commitment of institutions in shaping global-minded graduates with international mobility.”
“The academy represents a step in furthering RMIT's commitment to international education and research collaborations and reinforces our position as a leading university of impact. It adds to the growing list of quality education and research opportunities offered by RMIT across the globe”, he further added.
