Closeness to the downtown industry, making it easier and more manageable to have internships during the school year, amazing program with professors with lots of experience and connections, I like being downtown and not in such a small college town feeling space.
Course Curriculum
I think that with my major there is a large majority of us that want to go into events and conventions as opposed to tourism and hotel management/ restaurant management and there?s a lot of unnecessary courses that we have to take regarding those. I do understand that they are needed for those who are coming through that are taking another route it just seems like a large majority are taking the events and conventions route. I'd like to see more classes geared towards that.
Exams
SAT 1180, I took a math placement test just to see where I should be placed for my freshman year math class.
Placement
Being in downtown Indy means that there are jobs everywhere especially in my industry. Indy is a convention city and that means there's always an opportunity to volunteer or an open job at a hotel. It just provides a lot of opportunities.
Internship
They help us find internships and with my course of study I am required to do at least one but they don't just have them for us. They do a work-study program that helps pay for your college but I have no experience for that as I do not qualify.
Fees
Tuition and Housing are the two big fees. It's a little less than $5,000/ semester for tuition and a little over $5,000/ semester for housing.
Examination Structure
We have to take all the exams in what is called the Testing Center. We go into a secured room and go into a lockdown browser to take all exams. We can not take anything in with us and there are cameras and people surveying the room.
Faculty
The faculty is amazing! I haven't had a bad professor yet. They are all so wise and have amazing connections and networking. They teach well in the classroom and provide many volunteer opportunities.
Hostel
I'm on campus in a dorm and I have a job downtown that I walk to. I love living on campus and will stay on campus next year moving to an on campus apartment. There are a lot of really close apartments so many go that route.
