Swarthmore College, BA in Economics/Psychology
Reviewed on Sep 26, 2020(Enrolled 2020)

I wanted to go to a small liberal arts college and Swarthmore is one of the best in the field. They have extremely well-rounded academics and the culture and people at the college seemed like ones I would fit into well.

Course Curriculum

10

I think the curriculums are extremely well designed, and that the college places a fair amount of emphasis on academics but it is not competitive in any way.

Exams

It was through the common app, so just need to answer the university questions and nothing else apart from the general common app form.

Placement

9

Very good. A lot of students get into ivy leagues for their post-grad, and the placements for master's programs are really good. Also, a very high percentage of students are employed post-graduation from Swarthmore. There is an alumni network that can be used to get your foot in the door, and the counseling department is excellent.

Internship

Not yet.

Events

Campus life is quite fun, clubs are quite numerous and you can join any of them (no application process, etc). Parties happen twice a week, but no frats/sororities on campus, and the scene isn't amazing. WiFi is free and campus-wide and fast, libraries are amazing, big modern gym and good sports facilities.

Fees

Around 28000 USD a semester with a normal course load.

Scholarship

No I have not

Faculty

10

8:1 faculty-student ratio. The faculty and staff are extremely approachable and amenable, and I have gotten to know almost all of my professors well and every one of them knows my name. Professors Syon Bhanot (behavioral economics and public policy) and Andrew Ward (social psychology) are exceptional and have helped me choose my major and possible career post-uni.

Hostel

Yes. Cost is around 7000 for room and board, under which everything is free (laundry, food, etc). Dorms are pretty great, some singles, some doubles, some quads and some have AC and some don't. All are close by because the campus is quite small, except for Mary Lyons dorm. Other options are apartments nearby which you can rent with friends.
