I chose this college because it is known to have a good science program. CSU also is in partnership with NEOMED (Northeastern Ohio Medical School) and offers students along the pre-pharmacy track an opportunity to achieve Their pharmacy degree in 6 years. 3 years at CSU and 3 years at NEOMED (considering you provide the proper grades and test scores to pass).

Course Curriculum

8

I like the course curriculum at CSU. They offer enough time for students to understand and grasp a concept before moving onto another topic. I do not like however how the science classes are strictly graded off mainly tests and quizzes. I have been in multiple science courses that do not receive homework, projects, or participation credit so it makes it extremely difficult to raise your to grade.

Exams

During my 10th grade year, I took the ACT for the first time because the majority of colleges I was applying for preferred the ACT over the SAT. During my 11th grade year at high school, I took both the SAT and ACT (with writing) again and scored way higher in each category.

Placement

There are many job opportunities throughout the school year and even in the summertime. The dining hall is usually hiring along with many offices, bookstore, and small local businesses looking for students to hire. There are usually flyers posted around the school for students to obtain information.

Internship

Yes, the college does provide internal and external internships. There are many local businesses that partner with the college to offer opportunities to the students to intern with them. I have not done an internship yet so I am not aware of the current stipend.

Events

9

There are so many events celebrated at CSU. The student council makes sure to have at least 2 events a week to help keep students relaxed during the semester. Some are informative where you can learn about other cultures and taste their native foods, and see what kind of outfits they wore and learn fun facts about them and others are fun like ballon day. We just had a balloon day in February where a balloon artist came and made balloon animals for students and there were various desserts and drinks and balloon darts, tv raffles, photo booths, and a make your own balloon station.

Fees

CSU tuition isn't terrible compared to the other colleges nearby. Tuition is about $400 per credit (labs and online course fees are additional) however they do have a flat tuition base rate if you decide to take anywhere between 12-15 credit hours.

Scholarship

Yes, I was awarded financial aid from the government. I was able to receive both the Pell grant and offered loans from them. Unfortunately, though my pell grant seemed extremely low and almost pointless at CSU in comparison to how much I've received at other schools (even though my income has not changed significantly) so I'm not sure if that is only because of the school or the government.

Examination Structure

Exams are structured about every 3 weeks. The majority of courses offer 4 exams and a final at the end of the semester. Exams usually account for 20-25% of the course's semester grade and teachers at CSU typically do not curve no matter what the scores are.

Faculty

8

In my opinion, the faculty at CSU is very great. The teachers all seem very genuine and honestly care anew about the students. I've had many teachers actually take the time to make sure that every one of us understands a concept and not just rushes through the material. There are a few teachers I've had that aren't the greatest teacher but only a few. Many of the science teachers are native to other countries and often carry strong accents so at the beginning of the school year it was extremely hard to understand them but after 2-3 weeks I was able to adapt to understand what they're saying. Many teachers do not believe in curves so try your hardest and make sure to study!

Hostel

I do not live on campus. Although the housing for CSU is very nice, I chose to reside off campus because I do not live too far away from the campus. I didn't see the need to pay another $4000 per school year just to stay a little closer.
