Desiree Mitchell Review at University Of Chicago [UCHICAGO], Chicago | Collegedunia

Great School (lacking diversity).

9.3 /10

It's a top-ranked school and I wanted to take advantage of the best opportunities presented to me! I think my school will be able to catapult me to the highest levels of success. Also, I love the Chicago area and knew I wanted to live here.

Course Curriculum :

I really like it but I feel like it could be more inclusive. The first year of the law program can be overwhelming but overall it?s quite enjoyable. Chicago definitely takes an economic approach to the law, which is daunting at first, but you get used to it.

Exams :

I took the ACT (32) to get into undergraduate and most recently took the LSAT (172) to get into law school.

Placement :

Excellent! University of Chicago Law School grads places up with the best of the best (because we are some of the best)! There is a world of possibilities for U of C grads, which is one of the mains reasons I decided to go here!

Internship :

As far as I know, my school offers clinics in which you can receive school credit, but no internships. However, students are more than welcome to seek internships outside of school to complete on their own time.

Events :

The school is very supportive of students hosting events and there is always something going on. I love how much the school encourages students to get to know one another as well as get involved with the community and local leaders.

Fees :

Normal tuition charges. I don't recall any other specific charges. There are some student life charges but I guess that goes to food and events.

Scholarship :

Yes, there are many scholarships you can apply for via essay and application but students are also just automatically considered for scholarships upon application.

Examination Structure :

Students take exams quarterly (which you'll either love or hate). Exams vary by the professor but follow the typical law school exam structure. Nothing shocking here! The best advice is to seek outlines from upper-class men who excelled.

Faculty :

The University of Chicago has some of the most esteemed faculty in all of the legal academia! Unfortunately, the faculty is lacking in diversity, but I hear the school is trying to work on that. Regardless, most faculty and kind and willing to work with you one on one.

Hostel :

I live off campus which has been great. Next year I'm considering moving to on-campus housing so that I can be more involved in the community. Really, you can?t go wrong living close to the school or downtown. It's fairly easy to get to the school in many places!
