Boston College is a top ranking university within the United States. Historically it is a Jesuit Catholic institution but does not require students to be of any religious background. There are many courses of study to pick from and the undergraduate business school is on the top in the country.

Course Curriculum

9

The curriculum for the Bachelor of Arts degree includes a base requirement of liberal arts courses which is followed by your choice of courses within your specific area of study. I chose to study English Literature so many of my courses were writing intensive and relied heavily on reading source material.

Exams

I took the SAT and the ACT. My ACT score was 31. SAT and ACT scores are both valued when applying to Boston college but major factors also include your high school GPA and extracurricular activities.

Placement

8

There are also annual job fairs for students nearing graduation. Job opportunities are abundant and internships can often lead to full-time jobs. Students are given additional help through the on-campus career center.

Internship

Boston College connects students with companies that offer internships during the summer months as well as during the academic year. Most internships are unpaid. Students can be connected to companies through annual internship fairs.

Events

8

The university has many clubs that host events and parties on campus during the school year. The sports atmosphere is very lively and the football and hockey teams have tailgating events sanctioned by the university where alumni can gather before and after the games.

Fees

There are fees for housing, meals, tuition in general, as well as costs for events and supplies like textbooks.

Scholarship

I was not given any financial aid. Boston College is difficult when applying for financial aid and it is not given to everyone who applies.

Examination Structure

Exams vary by courses, some can have multiple exams during a semester while others only have a midterm and final exam. Many writing courses don't have exams but require larger essays or research papers to be handed in.

Faculty

8

The faculty of the university varies as it also includes Jesuit priests and adjunct professors who work outside of the school during as well. I believe all of the professors are hired because they are at the top of their fields of study and experience.

Hostel

8

Most students live on campus in dormitories. The university requires an extra payment to live on campus on top of the tuition payment. Some students find housing off campus in apartments and live with other students.
