I chose western Washington university because they offer a specific major program I want to pursue. I also wanted to stay in the Pacific Northwest for college. I love the opportunity for student activism and getting involved.
Course Curriculum
I like how my courses interact and relate to each other. Some people in my major complain that our studies are too broadly focused. We don't feel prepared enough for our careers. There are certain skills necessary for the types of jobs we will have, and we want more hands-on learning.
Exams
The only exam I took out of these was the SAT. I took it twice during my senior year. It was scored out of 2400, and I received 1930.
Fees
We have quarterly fees for different services offered for students around campus. One is a fee to use the recreation center. One is a sustainability action fee that goes into a fund. Students get to decide how to best spend the money in the fund to support sustainability on campus.
Examination Structure
I struggle with multiple choice exams because I don't feel that they accurately assess my knowledge of a subject. I would rather be tested by essay style or short answer exams. The business classes I take have mostly multiple choice exams, unfortunately. It makes it nearly impossible to achieve the grade I want to.
Faculty
I've had a lot of wonderful professors that are passionate about the subject they teach and truly care about student success.
