This college was appealing financially compared to other universities. Iowa State was well known for its great engineering program. On the tour, they discussed all the resources they offered to students
Course Curriculum
I think the course curriculum is great an idea, but not great in application. The structure is a great idea, but it does limit the student's opportunities to explore and be in control of their curriculum.
Exams
I took the ACT exam. Only one was required by Iowa State. I got a 27 on my exam. I did have to take an entrance exam for the math classes at Iowa State
Placement
There are amazing job opportunities offered in various surrounding states. Iowa state puts on a career fair every fall and spring to show the students what type of jobs and internships are available. The career center is very helpful.
Internship
No, the school does not provide internships. However, they produce a career fair which helps the students get internships and co-ops. I am currently on a co-op so I would say Iowa state does a great job at being successful at helping students.
Events
Diversity is wildly celebrated on my campus. Everything from gender, race, sexuality, background, etc is celebrated on Iowa State's campus. This is celebrated in and for every major on campus. There are constant events around campus.
Fees
Engineering charges of a couple of hundred dollars. They include the materials used in the engineering labs.
Scholarship
Yes, I have had the great opportunity to gain scholarships. Since I was an out of state student, you are automatically given a scholarship if your GPA reaches a certain level.
Examination Structure
The exam structure is pretty common among all classes. Math courses have the most similar exam structure. Professors are very clear how many questions usually 6 or so to finish in the 60-minute exam. Other exams are not as common.
Faculty
The faculty is very diverse. There are a few international professors which makes it slightly difficult to understand them when they are lecturing. It's fun to make a game out of it though. A lot of faculty members are easy to chat with and attend their office hours.
Hostel
I have Lived on campus for two years and will live off campus this upcoming fall. I would say Iowa state has great living accommodations within the dorms and around the area of Ames. Most people live in apartments or local houses.
