The program was offered at this school with a specialization as opposed to having to get a double major. My specialization is in geology so if I went to other schools I would've had to get a bachelor in environmental science and then one for geology. The school is also somewhat affordable with loans coming in around 12,000 a year.
Course Curriculum
It's very rigorous but It prepares us for jobs and work we will actually be doing after we graduate. There are many different classes that apply to different fields within the same degree so it also helps narrow down what you would like to do and what you wouldn't.
Exams
The program is easy to get into. I transferred from a community college with a 3.0 GPA and was accepted right away. I did take the SAT in high school but was not asked for that score during the transfer process. I was asked for my sealed transcript and the school counselors took that. It was just something I always had an interest in.
Placement
.
Internship
They have work-study programs as well as a career services offer than can help you apply for internships. The office is very helpful and often have resume review and building events to help students.
Events
Blue and green Wednesday's for school spirit. There are usually activities and free giveaways and it helps you meet other students.
Fees
The cost of attendance is 4,000 a semester on average. there is an automatic transfer scholarship that helps with 750 a semester so long as your GPA stays above 2.75, it's applied automatically through the school. There are also other scholarships but students are not eligible until they have completed 1 semester at UHCL.
Scholarship
I have but I currently only receive 500 a semester as an independent student from fafsa and I have to take out loans for the rest of my tuition
Examination Structure
It depends on professors some exams are online and some are in class.
Faculty
All the professors are great! The academic advisors however are overloaded and don?t spend enough time with students helping them work towards graduation.
Hostel
I love off campus at apartments and commute on campus living is too expensive. You are required to purchase a meal plan which start at 650 a semester and it?s not worth the money you pay. I have a part time job to pay my off campus rent
