They have a really good business school. The professors are well experienced and have a lot of knowledge in their field. Right after my Malaysian Education Certificate (Malaysian version of SATs), I went into the American Degree Transfer Program, which essentially the American version of community college. There was no application fee. I applied to only two other universities.

Course Curriculum

I really like the course curriculum. We are required to take subjects that are outside our major. For example, even though I am in the business school, I still have to take History and English classes. I like how the university makes me well-rounded. I have met people from so many different backgrounds because we all end up in the same classes even if we have different majors.

Exams

TOEFL - 113/120 , American Degree Transfer Program- 3.68/4.00 , Malaysian Education Certificate- 8As 1B I opted for this program because I really enjoy doing numbers and developing problem-solving skills. The classes at Drake University are really small. I like going into a classroom where my professor knows me.

Fees

The fee is $56,000 a year for international students. Scholarships are available for students based on GPA and are given automatically to students so students do not have to go through the hassle of applying. I was awarded the Presidential Transfer Award and International Student Grant for a total of $18000

Examination Structure

Some exams are open-book exams where you are allowed to bring in notes whereas some are open notes while others are closed book. I really like the structure of the open notes exams because it shows that professors are focused more on your learning instead of how well you study.

Faculty

8

A lot of professors have served a number of years in their fields. Many of my professors are PhD holders and have worked in the insurance fields for quite a number of years. On top of that, it is interesting to see so many different pathways that I can take with my Actuarial career.

Hostel

I really like live off-campus because as an international student, I am required to leave my dorm during winter break. My apartment building is actually owned by the university.
