I chose it because of its location in a Downtown urban area close to many entertainment venues which is where I hope to work after graduating. It one of the only schools in the country to offer the Sports, Arts and Entertainment Management degree and does a great job with doing so.

Course Curriculum

8

I think it should be more focused on what you need for your career instead of focus on core topics that aren't relevant to your career and take up extra time. I think you could easily finish a degree in two years if they removed all of the unnecessary curriculum.

Exams

I took the ACT with a score of 22 overall. I was not required to take any others in order to qualify for my University.

Placement

8

They are good for our program. Many students from our program end up working locally with PPG Paints Arena, Stage AE, and Live Nation's Keybank Pavillion. Some students go on to work with bigger companies such as Live Nation, Universal Music and Disney.

Internship

Yes, they do. We are required to go out and find internships on our own, but they do offer resources to help us find those internships. They can vary from unpaid to paying, usually around minimum wage which is $7.25 in Pennsylvania.

Events

10

Our school hosts many events from musicals to concerts. We have an organization called SAEM Club who puts on big events for the entire campus such as concerts, celebrity speakers and talent competitions. We also have a Campus Activities Board that puts in general programming and food give away events.

Fees

We are charged per class as well as for housing, board, technology and an activities fee.

Scholarship

I reviewed financial aid by applying through my FAFSA form which was simple and quick. I also received scholarships from the school by applying and writing essays for them as well as interviewing for them.

Examination Structure

Exams are usually multiple choice at my University with some extended response. We normally have a review session before we go into an exam, usually the class before. Most classes will have a midterm and a final.

Hostel

I have lived in on-campus housing for my entire academic career at Point Park. There is an adequate amount of space to accolade incoming students. You can choose from single person dorm rooms up to three people dorm rooms as a freshman and can advance to nicer dorms as you advance in school.
