Fiona Kristo Review at Michigan State University [MSU], East Lansing | Collegedunia

MSU is Awesome

FK
9.7 /10

I knew that I wanted to go to a college in-state and an MSU was the leading college in business that really caught my eye. It was the perfect distance away from my house which was about an hour and that was great because I could easily get home if I needed to but I wasn't so close that my parents could come up any day or that I felt that I'd be going home too often. On top of that when I visited the campus it was amazing I really loved how everything was so tied in together and so large at the same time. I really felt at home and I really solidified that when I got there. I can go running or for a walk anywhere on campus and it feels like I?m just outside enjoying nature there?s a bunch of trees alongside a bunch of beautiful buildings.

Exams :

SAT: 1430, high school GPA:3.93 College GPA currently 3.8 I felt that MSU would challenge me and allow me to learn as much as I could about business in a great environment. They're in the top 30 business schools in the US and just added a new business pavilion to the complex, which just opened this summer. Since I already loved the campus and the academics were stellar, MSU seemed perfect.

Placement :

I don't know the stats but I know they' re high, especially for broad graduates. For one of my projects I actually corresponded with an alum and so did my classmates. There are also a lot of career fairs on campus.

Internship :

Yes, but I did not apply for one as I already had a summer job planned. However, I was a part of the university activity board and my friend has a marketing internship with them currently. There are a lot of really good opportunities.

Fees :

I am not an international student so I'm not sure. I do believe there are some scholarships for them though. However, my tuition was about 14k/year and I got no aid, but I did not take out any loans last year or this year for the fall semester. I did get a Livingston county Spartans scholarship, but it is a group of alums, not the school.

Faculty :

I have had really great professors and teaching assistants so far with the exception of about 2. They were fine but definitely not great. Personally I took a mix of small classes with 25 people and lectures with 300 and liked both. Overall I think the methodology and difficulty with the grading scale is good.

Hostel :

I lived on campus in Akers Dorm & loved it. I lived in a quad which was great and the cafeteria was downstairs & had a ton of great options. My meal plan was expensive but very convenient and was unlimited food + a combo exchange.
