I got to know about the college through the Questbridge program. I applied through this program and was accepted during the early decision round. It was free of cost to apply. I applied to 24 colleges. I chose this college due to the unique block plan and generous financial aid. My academic background is a STEM-focused student who attended a residential school called the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics.

Exams

I opted in for this program as Computer Science is my main interest. My SAT score was 1490. There is no minimum requirement to be accepted. It is a regular Computer Science degree program at a liberal arts college. There are required classes that must be completed such as Computational Thinking, Computer Science 1 and 2, etc.

Placement

8

I am not too familiar with the process of job placements as of yet. However, their job fairs where students can contact companies. There is an alumni system called Tiger Link that is also useful in this regard.

Internship

My college does offer on-campus jobs. These are given to students who qualify for a work-study program. The pay is usually $11.10 an hour. The possible jobs are librarians, gym supervisors, lifeguards, tutors, and more.

Fees

The total cost of attendance was $71,042. Most of this cost was covered by financial aid and grants, amounting to $68,998. These are given to students with financial need such as myself. A possible additional cost is the student health insurance program or SHIP. This costs $2770. I am taking a subsidized loan from the college.

Faculty

9

The faculty-student ratio is 1 to 10. The teaching methodology is based on the Block Plan where one class is taught at a time. Classes tend to be interdisciplinary and writing intensive.

Hostel

10

I am staying in a dorm with two other students. The dorm is not spacious, but we make it work buy moving our desks and drawers under our raised beds. Most people live on campus for convenience and community.
