I live very close to the university and always wanted to attend since I can remember. This is the only college I applied to partly because I was 26th in a class of 300 and had a 26 on the ACT so I felt confident in my chances to get accepted. I had many friends in the grades above me apply to Clemson so they showed me what was best to do and once accepted gave tips.

Exams

I thought about going into general engineering, but packaging has much smaller class sizes. It was also much less competitive to get into the program when compared to the engineering program with an SAT of 1100. Most likely I would not have gotten in that program. We are required to complete a 6 month co-op before graduating which helps to set us apart from other packaging school students.

Placement

Within packaging science, 96% of students get a job after graduation with a salary of $60,000 to $70,000. Most roles include design and testing based work. Many companies come and recruit on campus but they are located near campus.

Internship

As a student, we can find many jobs on campus from working in the dining hall or the book store to working in labs or offices. We are only able to work a max of 28 hours a week because we are employed part-time. Generally, you can expect to make at least $8 an hour and are required to keep a 2.5 GPA. Applications for most jobs are posted on an online site and look for people to start working in August and January.

Fees

Typical in-state tuition is $13,000 per semester. Discover Loans is a partner with the financial aid department and is the easiest to utilize. As an in-state student, I have the South Carolina Life Scholarship as my only form of financial aid. This requires I take 30 credits a year and keep a GPA of 3.0.

Faculty

The general education classes have a much higher ratio, typical to have 200 to 300 students under one professor and 2 assistants. While in my major-specific classes most students we have under one professor and one graduate assistant are 60. Most lab courses are supervised by a professor, but a graduate student interacts and teaches the students in the lab.

I live on campus because I find it cheaper and having to not deal with putting utilities or the internet in my name is nice. I looked at living off-campus but to still be able to walk to campus I would pay double per month for just rent, not including utilities. I currently do not have a meal plan because I like having control and enjoy cooking for myself.
