The location and the engineering program. I always wanted to peruse engineering so that was a priority, but I also wanted to be happy. Cal poly is such a happy campus with so much around it between hikes and the beach.
Course Curriculum
It is great. It is challenging to enough that I feel pushed, but also not too hard. The teachers always have office hours if you need help. There is a good varied amount of different types of classes so we learn a lot.
Exams
ACT and SAT. I took the SAT first and got in 1350. Then I took the ACT and got a 33. I got a 35 in two of the categories.
Placement
So good. I think 95% within my discipline have a job lined up before even graduating. Outside of my discipline, it is still good. Most people are offered a job before graduation and those that aren't being offered one soon after.
Internship
There is not a specific internship provided but there are lots of opportunities provided. For example each quarter there is a career fair where many different companies come to specifically hire cal poly grads.
Events
There is no short of events at Cal Poly. Whether it is a sports event or a diversity event there are many opportunities for the school to all come together. One big event is the soccer game against UCSB.
Fees
Compared to many other private universities and some public universities cal poly is significantly lower.
Scholarship
No, I have not. But there are many people that benefit from need-based aid or loans. It definitely helps a lot of people.
Examination Structure
Exam structure really depends on the class. It is hard to compare a sociology exam with a maths exam. Some classes have scantron tests, others have worked out problems, and others have essays. Overall the exams are good.
Faculty
So amazing. They are smart and helpful. They push us and support us. They do their best and we do our best. They are available a lot of times for office hours.
Hostel
As a first-year everyone is forced to live on campus. After that, it is an option to stay on campus or move off-campus. Most people move off campus because there are better options. There are lots of options.
