They had a really good drama department with a BA in Drama which allowed me to double major and also minor in musical theatre. My other major, psychology is also really good at Hofstra and they make sure your schedule fits everything.

Course Curriculum

I feel as though I don't learn a lot, especially since I already took a lot of the classes and went over the material in high school. As an actress, they don't have many acting classes so I felt so dry acting wise the first semester.

Exams

I only took the SAT in my high school and got 1350 I think. I didn't take any of the ACTS, IELTS, GRE, or university level exam accept AP exams.

Placement

A lot of the upperclassmen find really good internships and jobs in the city and from what I have heard, finding a good job right after college isn't that hard since they give you so many resources to do so.

Internship

Yes, but I haven't applied for any yet. I do know they have an incredible career centre though that hosts events which give you help on your resume, provide you with free interview clothing, holds mock interviews, etc.

Events

8

Greek life is a huge part of events at Hofstra. I think it's something like 80% of students are in Greek life and each organization hosts and goes to events all the time. Many of them are toward philanthropy as well.

Fees

A lot of people come to the school on one of the huge academic scholarships they give out but it still ends up being around $30,000 even if a scholarship covers half of the original cost. Also, classes don't cover mandatory purchases so you have to be ready to fish out hundreds of dollars on trips to the city if need be, and not to mention the cost of textbooks.

Scholarship

Yes, I received a scholarship for academics which came in my acceptance letter. You can also ask them to add money to your scholarship.

Examination Structure

Every class is different but so far, I've had a lot more projects and essays rather than actual exams. For final exams, a lot of classes won't have them and if they do, it's usually an essay or project.

Hostel

I stayed in a sweet with 3 others girls in Stuyvesant hall and would definitely recommend staying in one of the sweet style housings during your freshman year. After that, a lot of people save over $1000 by signing a lease with 7-8 friends and living off-campus.
