Being so far away from home I wanted a smaller campus which felt more home-y and a place where I could get to know more people. Being on a smaller campus would also allow me to have better interaction with my professors and build a community. When I met my interviewer and she expanded on MHC, the traditions, the song emphasis on building connections, it all felt just right. Additionally, the college has an excellent post-graduation placement record.
Course Curriculum
I think my college could do a little better with exposure to more internships and industrial exposure. However, research experience is plenty, every 300 level course practically has a lab and faculty are always recruiting students to take part. Psychology courses are very relevant and unto date and professors encourage research into new fields and reading the latest research work which has been done. Lesser emphasis has been placed on the history of psychology and more has been place on looking forward.n
Exams
I had to take the TOEFL and scored a 111. A good TOEFL score is above 100. ACT/SAT score submission is optional
Placement
MHC has amazing post graduation success stories. From placements into Ivy League colleges to getting jobs at the most reputed businesses. Faculty and the Career development centre really really help. Additionally, MHC has a great network of Alumni who can help navigate your career and give advice on your next steps.
Events
There are many organizations and clubs to join. Many small events which happen over the course of the year a few big ones. But overall the campus is not a party campus at all. Weekends can be tough since the college is not in a city. But there are events which people can attend regularly and still have a social life. I'd say its more important on this campus than any other to build a good circle of friends, otherwise It can get pretty lonely.
Scholarship
Global Perspectives Scholarship $15,000 a year. It's a merit based scholarship so there was no application process.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is 9:1. The faculty are highly esteemed, many are from the best universities from around the world and are well recognized in the academic sphere. All of them are highly knowledgeable while being very approachable. I can practically go up to any faculty member even if they haven't taught me and ask any queries I might have. Professor Katherine Binder, the chair of the Psychology department has had a profound impact on me not just because of her spectacular research but also because of how comfortable and approachable she is.
Hostel
I do live on campus and the dorms are very nice, most of them are very spacious an because it's a small campus it's easy to get to places quickly. Our dining facility is state of the art, there is so much variety and all of it I amazing. Bathrooms are kept very clean and the gymnasium is also very very well equipped with many classes happening everyday that students can drop into.
