I chose this university due to their extraordinary achievements in biomedical research arena.

Course Curriculum

9

The course syllabus is quite relevant and it is pretty flexible too. We can choose courses as per our interests and career goals. I’m gaining research experience by working in a cancer research lab as a research assistant.

Exams

GRE: waived off due to good work experience (otherwise it is required); IELTS: 7.5; Class minimum IELTS: 6.5.

Placement

8

Post-study placement rate is around 80%. There are a plethora of research opportunities for students after graduating with an MS biology, from this university. Median salary - $75k.

Internship

Didn't do an internship in any company as I am already working as a research assistant in a cancer research lab and working on my personal project.

Events

Campus life is pretty amazing with a diverse student population coming from different parts of the world. State-of-the-art infrastructure and research facilities are there on campus. The recreational center in the downtown campus is equipped with everything you can imagine like a gym, swimming pools, squash courts, indoor games (table tennis, billiards, etc), rock climbing, volleyball court, badminton court, etc. The university also has its own stadium for football and basketball. Free WiFi is available to all students and faculty all over the campus.

Fees

$15000/ semester (excluding health insurance).

Scholarship

I received Graduate Research Assistantship in which I’m receiving a 100% tuition waiver and a monthly stipend to work in a research lab.

Faculty

8

Faculty to student ratio is 1:25 at GSU. The faculty are very knowledgeable and super supportive. They encourage you to go out of your way to learn new things and encourage you to be a better version of yourself than your yesterday self. One such professor at my university is Dr. Ritu Aneja, who is a distinguished university professor at GSU and is also known for her groundbreaking research in the field of breast cancer.

Hostel

9

I live off campus. The monthly average rent for a single room is $750 and for on-campus, it is $1250. Feasible options include sharing your room with other students.
