I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints so the tuition is less for me, which is great because college is expensive!! I also like that the environment is really Christian and there isn't any drinking or crazy partying.

Course Curriculum

10

Honestly, I love most of my classes, but they're all pretty difficult when they don't need to be. BYU has been doing well lately with rankings and they want the academia of the University to reflect that so the professors give you lots of homework and pretend like their class is the only one you're taking. But the professors do really care about you, which is nice.

Exams

I took the ACT while in high school two different times and both times I received a 33. I also took the music theory AP test and received a 5. BYU is a little difficult when it comes to AP tests, however. Make sure they'll give you credit for the exam before you take it and expect credit.

Placement

10

BYU has become a pretty prestigious school and as such, the job opportunities and placements are pretty great. Students regularly get jobs at big-name Fortune 500 companies or become entrepreneurs. Lots of companies recruit straight from school.

Internship

BYU provides students with internship opportunities at all kinds of places. I'm not sure if there are internships directly from the school, but I know there are jobs through the school and the jobs pay a pretty typical rate here in Provo.

Events

5

BYU has some pretty cool performing arts teams. The ballroom company travels all over the world to compete, and the cougarettes dance team regularly wins all kinds of competitions. I feel like there's always something going on at campus - performances, club meetings, comedy events, etc.

Fees

Tuition is super affordable which is one of the appeals of this university. I haven't encountered additional fees when it comes to classes but that doesn't mean they aren't there. Tests are charged a late fee on the last day that they are open and some major admittance tests require fees.

Scholarship

BYU has a scholarship application that's due once a year, usually in January. You can also file the FAFSA and receive grants from the Federal government if you are eligible. It's usually really difficult to get a scholarship.

Examination Structure

It depends on the class but all classes have at least one midterm and a final. Most of my classes have had three midterms and a final. Typically tests are taken in the testing center on campus. Of course, if you're taking music or writing classes the tests will be adapted.

Faculty

10

I've loved all but one of my professors. I feel like they all really care about me and how I'm doing. BYU is really cool because actual professors teach the classes - not just grad students. A lot of the entry level classes can be huge but you can tell that the professors still care about their students.

Hostel

7

I lived off campus and I recommend doing that. South of campus there's a ton of housing and a ton of college students. There are more luxurious apartments and there are some that are definitely dumps. Married housing is a lot harder to find than single housing.
