I chose Columbia University because of its brand and location, access to immense opportunities in NYC, and the opportunity to build a good professional network.

Course Curriculum

8

The course syllabus is quite updated and there are industrial projects as well. Some of the courses as part of the core curriculum are pretty basic and are not worth spending as much.

Exams

My scores: GRE: 325 Quant: 167 Verbal: 158 AWA: 4.5 TOEFL: 114 I don't know the class minimum.

Placement

8

Post-study placement opportunities are decent but students will have to put in the effort themselves to find good jobs. One cannot only rely on career placement officers for finding employment opportunities.

Internship

Yes, I did one summer internship and one Fall semester part-time internship.

Events

Libraries are amazing. Campus life is pretty much equivalent to how it is at other colleges but since it is located in NYC, there are a lot of things to do. Sports and gym facilities are adequate, but could be better.

Fees

$72000 for the entire program fees (1.5 years)

Scholarship

I didn't receive any scholarships from the university.

Faculty

9

Faculty in my department are very approachable and they are extremely accomplished in what they teach. They're generally helpful, friendly, and understanding.

Hostel

6

I live in an apartment near campus and the accommodation near campus is pretty expensive. If you are inclined towards taking a private room in an apartment, the rent would usually be in the range of $900-$1200 per month, including amenities. If you're open to sharing the room, the expense can reduce by around $500.
