I decided to go to Northern because of the gorgeous nature and it is 5 minutes from the lake as well. I also chose northern because of the distance. It's 6 hours from my town and it's really great. I also chose it because of its excellent programs.
Course Curriculum
It is amazing and easy to understand. It has it's hard moments but overall it's amazing. They try to make everything as simple as they can so that you won't struggle. It is difficult from time to time but that is what college is about. It's about getting a higher education and that takes work.
Exams
I took the SAT my junior year and I did not get the score I wanted and I knew I could get a better score so I scheduled it for 4 months later and I retook the sat and did amazingly I got higher than I expected.
Placement
They are amazing they try to get you out into the job force as much as they can. They help with resumes and interviews they even help you prepare for them and they even sometimes find them for you. They want us to succeed as much as we can so that we can prosper later on after college they do a really great job at that
Internship
Yes for internships but I have not had one so I can't really answer this at the moment.
Events
There are a lot of things celebrated at NMU but the winter fest is the biggest but that is of course because we are known for the snow so we always have to celebrate it. Festivals during the winter are really common in the UP.
Fees
There are fees for your housing advance and for your bed loft kit. You also have to pay for your parking pass as well. Then if you do a certain club or sport there is a fee for that as well sometimes.
Scholarship
No, I have not received any at all. But there are many scholarships available that come out you just have to apply.
Examination Structure
The exam structure isn't too bad. I wish they gave us more time in between each exam or didn't putt so much on one exam at once. They could split them up into chapter tests and it would make it a little easier.
Faculty
The faculty are really great. They are always so accommodating to your needs. If you need help they will set out to help you. And not just the professors all of the other staff are very friendly.
Hostel
I found staying on campus as long as possible was the easiest. It is really hard to find a decent place to live for a decent price around here so staying in the dorms and not dealing with the hassle is honestly the thing to do. Until your junior year when you can live in the on-campus apartments.
