The study of English?focuses upon writing, research, and critical thinking in courses ranging from basic composition to a study of literature reaching back to the Hebrews and forward to contemporary writers. The study involves in-depth analysis of changing social and political aspects as well as emotional and spiritual concerns of people from around the world. With this enhanced awareness, together with the knowledge-based background the discipline offers, students can look forward with confidence to finding a successful place in the world outside college.

Spanish majors?gain not only a deepened awareness of the culture of the language but also intensive study to increase skills in spoken and written communication. Courses range from beginning and intermediate skills courses to a wide range of advanced courses in composition and literature. A state-of-the-art language laboratory enables students to enhance listening comprehension skills. These methods of language study help to prepare students for a variety of careers in our ever-changing world.

Liberal Arts/Interdisciplinary Studies majors?engage in a holistic, comprehensive approach to education which prepares them to think and operate for a lifetime, not just for a specific profession. Students choose three areas of concentration from degree programs within both the B.A. and B.S. degrees. Areas of concentration include:? Accounting, Art, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Christian Studies, Communication Arts, CIS, Criminal Justice, Ecology and Field Biology, Economics, Education, English, History, Management, Ministry, Music, Natural Science, Nursing, Political Science, Psychology, Spanish, Sports Management, Theatre, among others.

These degrees are also attractive for double majors who want more versatility in their studies. In addition, we require a capstone course designed to help students develop an elevator speech, as well as presentation and interviewing skills. Besides being accepted at various prestigious schools for Master?s Degrees and Ph.D.?s, our graduates are very marketable: nearly 100% of our graduates are in advanced degree programs or employed in a variety of careers.
