Bachelor of Hotel Management or BHM is an undergraduate course introducing students to the fundamentals and different facets of the hospitality sector. For securing an admission in BHM, the basic eligibility criteria 10+2 pass in any stream. The duration of this course varies from 3-4 years depending on college.
With a BHM degree, one can choose from plenty of job profiles in both private and public sector. Some of the designations suitable for Hotel Management graduate are as hotel managers, air hostesses and flight stewards, consultants to hotels, restaurant managers, event organisers among others. The initial salary for a fresher ranges from 10,000 INR- 30,000 INR per month increasing with experience.
Bachelor of Hotel Management is an under-graduate course about the study of the hospitality industry as a whole, acquainting the student to the different sector, areas of this industry. Thus, it not only teaches students about the hotel management but also about marketing, sales, public relations to name a few other areas.
Not just B.Sc. Hotel Management but there are other variations to the course such as BA Hotel Management and BBA Hotel Management. The basic difference between these courses and BHM is that they are basic graduation program of 3 years duration while BHM can be of 4 years duration. Also these courses apply a stream specific approach to hotel management. On the other hand BHM is a course which is designed specifically to cater to the requirements of the hospitality industry.
