The icing on the cake was its notable ranking in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), and the tranquil campus that managed to maintain a commendable distance from unnecessary controversies, distinguishing it from some other B-schools.
Life at IIM Raipur
As I stepped into this new chapter of my academic life, my initial impressions were a mix of excitement and exhaustion. The induction process and preparatory classes demanded intense effort, resulting in sleepless nights. However, the campus's warm reception provided a comforting ambiance, helping ease the fatigue. The days were a whirlwind of activities, particularly the group tasks during the induction, creating a platform for forging friendships that went beyond the hustle and bustle. Yet, as the sections took shape, finding time to connect with everyone became a delightful challenge, restricted to those precious moments during the daily mess gatherings.

My daily routine kicked off promptly at 8 am, with a quick breakfast at the mess before the 9:30 am classes commenced. Four classes, each lasting an hour and a half, kept us engaged until 5:15 pm. A brief snack break and a retreat to my room for some downtime preceded a workout session in the gym. The day concluded with dinner and the inevitable task of addressing pending work, a schedule that sometimes extended well into the late hours.
Hostel at IIM Raipur
The co-ed hostel life added another layer of vibrancy to the overall experience. Daily parties and birthday celebrations created a lively atmosphere, making it imperative to adjust one's schedule to align with the social calendar. The mess food, though subject to critique, underwent regular improvements through monthly feedback forms, allowing students to actively shape and refine the culinary experience.

Navigating the placement process proved to be a unique challenge, especially given the prevailing market conditions. However, the authorities exhibited unwavering dedication, working diligently to strike a delicate balance between the number of companies and the pool of eager students. What truly distinguishes IIM Raipur is not only its academic prowess but also its profound commitment to students and the paramount focus on fostering diversity and inclusion. While the overall culture may bear some resemblance to other IIMs, it is the unique characteristics and values of this institution that make the experience truly exceptional and rewarding.

Merit based scholarships are offered to the students having an excellent academic background. The scholarship is awarded to the students based on their family income and CGPA in the past academic year.
Eligibility

Students should have a minimum CGPA of 6.5 and Grade not less than C+. In addition, they must have family income within INR 2 LPA.
- SC/ST Need-Based Scholarship:
- The SC/ST Need-based scholarship is sponsored by MHRD of the Government of India. This is offered to the SC or ST students based on their family income. This scholarship can offer a complete fee waiver to the selected student.

When it comes to obtaining work visas in different countries, it is important to understand that most countries do not provide direct entry to international students. This is because it is a source of income for the country, so they require international students to complete their education and then apply for a work visa. However, some countries, such as those with a skill gap in their industries, are inviting high-skill migrants with more than 3 years of work experience to fill that gap.
When it comes to New Zealand, it does not provide any kind of work visa, you must have to take a course and then apply for the work visa. It is an important aspect to keep in mind while planning to work in New Zealand.
Canada, on the other hand, is providing express entry to skilled migrants if they want to settle in Canada. This is a great opportunity for those who have the skills and qualifications that Canada is looking for. If you are interested in working in Canada, it is a good idea to research the express entry program and see if you qualify.
What percentile is required for IIM Raipur?
The table below presents the minimum performance required for candidates to be considered for the PI & WAT selection process at IIM Raipur. However, it is important to note that meeting the cut-off percentile in CAT is a necessary but not sufficient condition for being shortlisted.

The table above presents the minimum percentile required for candidates to be considered for the selection process at IIM Raipur. One of the strengths of the institute is its per-capita spending on study materials, which is not limited, unlike older IIMs. Additionally, IIM Raipur is open to experimentation, which is a result of it being a startup compared to other, more established institutions.
Another aspect that works in favor of IIM Raipur is the student community. Despite past and ongoing constraints, the students have been continuously working to improve the institute and increase its visibility. This is evident in the outreach to aspirants during the post-CAT admission process, and the establishment of niche clubs like HRidhaan, OPEP, and CEC. Furthermore, the events organized by the institute such as HR Summit, GSMC, ICHL, and Leadership Summit, are of high visibility and good quality.
In conclusion, while IIM Raipur may not yet be considered a special institute, it is different in a positive sense and has the potential to become special in the near future.
Can you become a professor in IIMs or IITs after FPM from new IIMs, like Rohtak or Raipur?
Becoming a professor from the new IIMs is definitely possible but rare. The FPM program offered at the new IIMs has varied peers some being freshers while some with Masters from foreign universities.
The following things matter when selecting an Assistant Professor in a new IIM
- Your experience
- The quality of your papers
The chances are rare because most of the new IIMs have professors who have done Ph.D. from older IIMs like IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and IIM Calcutta. Ph.D. is a program that totally depends on your performance and research. The initial years focus solely on research training and cannot be enough to make you eligible for faculty positions.
So your chances are rare but not null.
What advantage does IIM Raipur have over the other new IIMs?
Although IIM Raipur is just a mediocre IIM, it does have certain features that set it apart from other IIMs. Some of them include
- Students exchange program
- Curriculum based on Harvard Business School course
- Older than 10 years. This opens gates for more big firms to visit the campus that don’t visit IIMs that are less than 10 years old.
- A mixed-talented crowd from various walks of life
These points attract many aspirants who end up choosing IIM Raipur for their MBA program.
Which should I prioritize, IRMA or IIM Raipur? My main objective is core/quality learning and the value of the degree in the long run. A lucrative job is secondary.
IRMA is a well-established MBA institution that has been in operation for 43 years, while IIM Raipur and Rohtak are relatively newer institutions, established only 12-14 years ago. IRMA has a strong reputation in a variety of fields such as marketing, financial roles, agribusiness, sales and marketing, development organizations, international organizations, and government agencies. In contrast, IIM Raipur and Rohtak are known for their expertise in consulting and financial domains. It is important to note that these newer IIMs may not yet be comparable to more established institutions like IRMA.
With the increasing number of IIMs in various states, the competition for job opportunities and seats in these institutions is becoming more intense. Some of the graduates from IIM Raipur and Rohtak may not be able to earn as high of a salary as those from IRMA after a few years of experience. Therefore, if you are looking for a prestigious MBA program with a well-respected reputation and the potential for a high-paying job, IRMA is an excellent choice. If you are primarily interested in the prestige of an IIM degree, IIM Raipur and Rohtak may be suitable for you.

Yes, I do have an opinion regarding the same. This course is the most unprofessional and unreliable course I have come across. People who are looking for better job opportunities need to stay away from this course. This is because the course offers everything but job assistance. You cannot depend on this course and expect offers from companies after completing the program. The brochure provided initially, the various job opportunities are mentioned which is quite misleading.
The course is conducted by the IIM Raipur faculty itself. UpTop has not much connection with the students at all. People join this course eager to switch domains or change jobs. But this course fails to help in any of this. The course is just a source of making free money and misleading people. So if you or anyone you know is going for this course, please stop them before they fall into the pit.
