Learn and apply scientific knowledge to specific problems, independently undertaking projects relating to diagnostic procedures and other areas including research of relevance in clinical, industrial and academic environments. Develop practical laboratory skills including cell culture and biochemical, microbiological, immunological and molecular approaches to diagnostics.
All practical classes are led by academic staff whose research incorporates the latest biomedical techniques. Research skills and statistical analysis are developed throughout the programme and applied to biomedical problems. Towards the end of the course you apply your skills to a two-month research project based on a staff member's research interest in a relevant biomedical field.
