Human Resource Management is all about people. People are vital to the success of any business and working in HR means you will be managing people using a variety of policies and practices, which are designed to develop individuals and the organisation, to achieve their full potential.

Many of the key challenges facing organisations today, whether they are small businesses or large multinationals, revolve around managing people. This is where the expertise of HR managers is crucial, whether that be the implementation of flexible work practices, how best to manage talent in order to enhance performance or in contributing to fair and transparent employee reward structures.

Knowledge of employment law and employee relations, alongside an understanding of how to incentivise individuals and teams are vital for anyone wanting to build a career in HR management ? whether in the UK or in an international context.Ê

You will analyse issues such as the relations between employers and employee organisations (e.g. trade unions), the structure of labour markets and the wider impact an organisation can have on a variety of stakeholders and its local community.

Cross-cultural management skills are incorporated and you may choose to include a language as part of your studies, enhancing your employability with businesses that operate internationally. We also offer a four-year route where you have the opportunity to spend your third year on an industry placement or studying overseas, after which you will return to study for your final year.
