Why study the BEng/MEng in Electronic Engineering at Middlesex University?
Electronic Engineering at Middlesex is available as either a three-year Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) and a four-year Master of Engineering (MEng).
As part of our suite of Design Engineering courses, the Electronic Engineering degrees produce professional and competent multi-disciplinary engineers specialist in analogue and digital electronic systems. You will design and build complex electronic circuits and systems-on-a-chip using a range of methods and software tools, applying a systems engineering approach to problem solving.
To support your career success, you will build a professional portfolio of work throughout your degree and receive regular guest lectures and project feedback from industry professionals, with the option of spending a year on industry placement.
Flexible programme design
Our suite of Design Engineering courses share a common first year of study, which enable students to experience all aspects of engineering. Depending on your interests, you can then continue with the Electronic Engineering degree or transfer to one of these specialist honours programmes:

Design Engineer
A Design Engineer role includes researching and developing ideas for new products and systems, and improving those that already exist. Design Engineers work in a wide range of industries on a range of products and services.
CAD Technician
A Computer-Aided-Design (CAD) Technician uses software to develop design plans such as floor plans, buildings plans and exhibition layouts. CAD Technicians may also work on product designs which are then sent to engineers to create prototypes.
Electrical Engineer
Electrical Engineers work on designing and developing electrical products and components. This can include electrical machinery, control systems and equipment in a number of industries from transport, to telecommunications, to the armed forces.
Mechanical Engineer
A Mechanical Engineer works on the design, development and maintenance of mechanical components, systems and machinery. A Mechanical Engineer can work in a range of industries where mechanical systems are used.
Work placements
Work placements increase your success in the job market Ð as well as being a fantastic experience. You can further develop your interpersonal skills, build your confidence, and make contact with industry leaders. By making a good impression during your placement year, you greatly increase your chances of securing a job with the company after graduation. Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Students need to have passed high school certificate examination
- Official transcripts of previous education
- Relevant work experience can be considered towards subject credit
English Language Requirements:
- IELTS: 6.0 minimum with 5.5 in each section
- PET: 59 minimum with 59 in all sections
- TOEFL IBT: minimum 72 with at least 17 in listening and writing, 20 in speaking and 18 in reading
Indian Student Specific Requirements:
- Minimum 55% in high school examination
