- Master of Research in Medical Robotics and Image-Guided Intervention at Imperial College London is a 1-year program.
- It is an on-campus, 90 credits program offered on a full-time basis.
- This program provides the research experience required to work within the highly innovative field of medical robotics and surgical imaging.
- This is a multidisciplinary field and is led by three internationally-known departments:
- Hamlyn Centre for Medical Robotics
- Department of Surgery and Cancer
- Department of Computing
- All teaching and research will take place in the brand new facilities of the Hamlyn Centre, which was founded by Professor Guang-Zhong Yang and Professor The Lord Ara Darzi.
- The taught modules include a mixture of engineering and medical topics such as medical robotics and instrumentation, minimally invasive surgery, surgical imaging and optics, image-guided intervention, perception, and ergonomics.
- The course begins with five key taught modules and a group project.
- The individual project will begin with a literature review followed by the research project over a period of approximately 8 months.
- Projects will be selected from a list of topics provided by the Hamlyn academics and others at Imperial field.
- During the studies students will complete:
- A group research skills project
- An 8-month multidisciplinary research project
- Presentation at the end of the year
- Taught courses
- Transferable skills training from the Graduate School
- Students complete their studies with the skills required to have a successful career within an industry or an academic research position such as a PhD studentship.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have a 2.1 degree or equivalent in a science, engineering, biomedical science, or medical degree from a recognized university.
- Applicants who do not meet the academic requirements but have substantial relevant industry experience may be admitted on a basis of the Special Qualifying Exam (SQE).
- Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and PTE to get admission in this program.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they complete one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Students should have completed a 3-4 year bachelor's degree from a mainstream university (state/federal or deemed institution) passed with the required grades.
- Students for research should hold a 3 to 4-year bachelor's degree and master's degree, both passed with required grades.
- Applicants from elite institutions will be required to obtain a minimum overall average of 7 / 10 or 60%. These are the college minimum scores and particular departments may seek grades at a higher level.
- Applicants from other approved institutions will be required to obtain a minimum overall average ranging from 7.5-8 / 10 or 65-70%.
