Career prospects

The current decade has been dubbed the ÔGolden Decade of SportÕ, not least because events such as the 2012 Olympic Games and the 2015 Rugby World Cup created thousands of jobs in coaching, fitness, logistics, management and many more.

The leisure industry is a major employer in the UK and many of our students go into managerial and service delivery roles in leisure and health centres, as well as teaching and research. Some graduates have gone to work with specific sports teams, including CCFC and British Cycling and Formula 1, while others have found employment with governing bodies of sport.

If you are more interested in the medical and health applications of exercise science, you can pursue careers within cardiac and other rehabilitation teams within the NHS, or with local councils within sports development or exercise for health schemes.
