On theÊEuropean Studies (Spanish) (Hons)Êprogramme offered by University of Kent, you learn Spanish, one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, and spend a year studying or working in a Spanish-speaking country to experience the language and culture directly.

Europe is geographically, linguistically and culturally diverse. It is also at the centre of many contemporary political debates. European Studies at Kent is based in the School of European Culture and Languages (SECL) and benefits from the interdisciplinary culture within the School. The programme gives you the opportunity toÊstudy Spanish to an advanced level. In addition to your language modules, there is a wide range of options available to you covering the history, culture and politics of Europe and European nations.

Spanish is widely spoken. Not only is it the official language of Spain, is it also widely spoken in Gibraltar and Andorra, as well as Spanish-speaking communities spread throughout Europe. It is also a major language throughout South America.Ê

At Kent, our facilities include multimedia laboratories, which offer a variety of interactive language-learning programmes and dictionaries, and access to audio, video and computer-assisted language learning facilities. We have native speakers teaching on campus, and Canterbury is the closest UK university city to mainland Europe, with Eurostar terminals nearby at Ashford and Ebbsfleet.
