Academic Eligibility:

Students must have the following requirements:

• SQA Higher: BBCC to include Biology or Chemistry and one further science (Maths, Health and Food Technology, and Environmental Science counted). Biology, Chemistry, English, and Maths are required at National 5 grade B or above if not held at Higher.
• GCE A Level: CCC to include Biology or Chemistry and one further science (Maths, Food, and Nutrition, and Environmental Science counted). Biology, Chemistry, English, and Maths are required at GCSE grade 6/B or above if not held at A-Level.
• Irish Leaving Certificate Higher: H3H3H3H3 to include Biology or Chemistry and one further science (Maths and Home Economics: Scientific & Social counted). Biology, Chemistry, English, and Maths are required at grade O2 or above if not held at Higher.
• IB Diploma: 26 to include Biology or Chemistry at Higher Level grade 4 and one further science at Higher Level (Maths counted). Biology, Chemistry, English, and Maths required at Standard Level grade 4 if not held at Higher.

Indian Students Eligibility:

• Students must have passed 12^th grade from a recognized institution.
• Students must have Grade C or better in English and Maths.
• A post-high school qualification (i.e. a higher national diploma, an associate degree) can be considered for advanced entry to undergraduate courses. Applications will be considered on a case by case basis

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.

Job Prospects

The nutrition sector has a wide variety of careers and is a constantly expanding field. Nutritionists mostly work in non-clinical settings and may work in the food industry (from primary production through product development to the retail chains), public health nutrition and health promotion (e.g. NHS public health departments or freelance as consultants), and government and non-government organizations (NGOs).

Nutritionists also work in the rapidly expanding health and fitness industries to promote health and improve performance or work with large businesses to promote the health and wellbeing of their employees through health and lifestyle assessments and the delivery of educational seminars. Others choose to pursue a career in academia which may include nutrition research (lab-based and human), or home economics teaching.
