The Business School at the University of Leeds is a triple-accredited school, which directly means that it is a well-recognized school for my course. The employability prospects are also good, and most importantly, it provides good course content as well as excellent teaching staff.
Course Curriculum :
The course syllabus at the University of Leeds for BSc Economics is very much up to date, as it not only teaches us about current economics but it also links economics with history, thereby giving us students a greater understanding of the subject. Currently, the syllabus also allows us to learn economics by using coronavirus as an example. The course syllabus is enriched with practical applications as well as gives us the learning experience of writing research papers. There are career fairs as well as an optional module where employers guide and help students out by giving exposure to the business as well as increasing commercial awareness which is something a good potential job candidate should have. There are options for studying abroad as well as opting for a placement year.
Exams :
My application process involved the assessment of my academic performance as well as the personal statement. My personal statement included personal facts about myself and my interest in the field of Economics. It also included explanations that linked how certain activities I did invoke my interest in the field of Economics and why I am interested to pursue it. It also included an explanation of the extracurricular activities I pursued during my school days.
Placement :
The careers center trains the students with the interview processes, in fact in the business school we are also given lectures in the first year about how the interview process would be like, and what employers look for in a CV and candidate. They have access to Vmock, which is a software that checks the CV and gives feedback too! There is also a module called 'Study to Work' which involves employers from different companies giving talks to students about their company as well as give students a deeper understanding of being a better suitable candidate. On average, the university has had many students placed into big companies and some who also continue to pursue a master's degree in other reputed universities around the world. They also have a website that allows us to connect with alumni, thereby providing us a good alumni network. They also have a mentoring scheme, wherein students can get a mentor and get trained under them.
Internship :
Due to Covid-19, I was able to have 2 online internship experiences (3 days each) organized by Bright Network, which collaborated with other companies such as PwC and Amazon.
Events :
There are numerous clubs and societies in the university related to academics, culture, sports, outdoors, welfare, volunteering, and many more. There are many facilities provided by the university, which prove to be helpful to students as well. There is good WiFi throughout the university, the libraries are welcoming and are huge to fit in many students. There are many books and resources from the library that students can use online as well! There is a dedicated support team at the library as well that helps students with regards to maths and statistics and many more. There is a gym along with other sports facilities like an indoor temperature-controlled pool and a basketball court on the university campus. The university also provides other academical resources for free to students that can aid them in their learning such as the Financial Times news subscription. There is a dedicated night hotline by students for students, and the university is there to support students in many aspects! There are many cafes in the students union and there is a grocery store at the union on campus!

Faculty :
The Leeds University Business School has triple accreditations from three leading bodies - AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS. It is also home to the Applied Institute for Research in Economics. There is also a dedicated careers center to help students with their CVs as well as training for interviews. The faculty is well connected to its students with a decent faculty to student ratio, and the faculty is certainly very helpful and considerate towards their students. The faculty also holds Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) for first-year students, so that they don't feel left out and also gain some benefits that can help them out with regards to their academics as well as for settling into the city and university. Madam Catherine Dollan and Mr. Peter Hughes, in particular, left an incredible impact on me.
Hostel :
I lived in student accommodation in my first year and currently live off-campus. The university provides all the information that is needed about student accommodation online and they are also available to answer any questions that come! The student accommodations also have great service with security! The university also has a tie-up with Unipol, which is close to campus. This organization helps students find the right home for them when they plan to move out of student accommodation. They also provide a book with guidelines to follow when students go for house viewing so that it helps them make the right decision.
