It is the UK's number fifth best university and I was looking for a university in the UK because I was interested in studying British law. I also wanted exposure by reading law at an international university.
Course Curriculum
In the UK the education system is authoritative but to an extent self-reliant too. At school back in India, our teachers would continually remind us when our assignments were due, but this is not the case at all at university. In university, the professors are not personally involved in our work compared to school. We have lectures and seminars, but mostly study is self-directed and we are required to carry out a lot of independent research. The pressure is entirely on us to motivate ourselves to submit our assignments on time, but my tutors are pleased to help and answer questions in person or via email and it is reassuring to have this support.
Exams
Yes, we had to submit 2 LORs and SOP. In your UCAS application, you need to submit your work experience.
Placement
We have been awarded the number one graduate recruitment university with 98% success.
Internship
Yes, I have interned with a few law firms and they all have been achieved by myself. The university or any other company has not really played a role in it.
Events
The university was very welcoming and accepting, from hosting numerous cultural events and festivals to encouraging us to participate in societies. The is free 23/7 wifi and very accessible transports across the city which were very student-friendly as well. If you are a sports person then you will have the time of your life because the university offers around 35 sports and we have a sports center as well. We have had approximately 26 noble laureates who have graduated from our university and our research facilities are one of the top-ranked all over the world.
Fees
Pound 19,000
Scholarship
Yes, I did receive a scholarship of pound 1000 as I was awarded the Manchester Law Award, 2019.
Faculty
One of the most cooperative people I have ever met. They all are very approachable and are filled with knowledge. They all have their offices on campuses, which leads to less hustle in locating and reaching out to them.
Hostel
Yes, I was living in university accommodation. There were a variety of accommodations to choose from and we were given an option of en-suite, shared, and catered or non-catered flats. The average rental was 120 pounds a week and the rooms were fully furnished with very well working kitchen supplies.
