LSE is renowned worldwide for their academic standards, nobel prize winning professors and holistic student life in one of the most hustling cities in the world. i also choose this course because it gave me the opportunity to choose from 300 different courses and meet people from around the globe. It was a program that I could do simultaneously as part of my undergrad so the timing was perfect too.

Course Curriculum

The social science courses at LSE were updated, relevant and hands on such as social psychology. We had a new activity in our seminar every week, which helped us understand the concepts with real life examples. The management courses, however, were more readings and case-studies based. While that was helpful, they could make more of an effort to make the management courses more practical and experience-based. In my operations management course, we had a live project with a restaurant to understand their operations first-hand.

Exams

IELTS, the minimum requirement for LSE is to get atleast 7 on all 4 parameters. I received an overall 8 out of 9.

LSE, due to their reputation, gets top-notch companies on campus from the Big fours to investment banking firms. Many students look for roles in consulting and banking. The jobs are more on the higher paying side. There are career events on campus during the beginning of the year and specific ones for your industries of choice. There is a very helpful team of career advisors available throughout the year via appointment basis and they share multiple resources as well.

Events

LSE has 200+ clubs and societies to choose from, there is club for everything from sports to Cultural clubs and professional clubs. For sports, they use facilities outside of campus mainly. The campus is small and located in central london, which is easily accessible from the tubes and busses. The campus has large lecture halls and small rooms for seminars. There’s newly renovated spaces and multiple locations with chill study spots and one large 4 floor library. There’s 3/4 cafes on campus with LSE catering, and multiple food joints in the area. There’s WiFi everywhere on campus.

Scholarship

I received the John C Phelan scholarship worth 9k pounds, and received an International Students House Scholarship for 100% off residential worth 12k pounds. I had to write an essay on what I would do with the scholarship money, submit one LOR and share details of existing financials.

Consonne Locke, she is one of the senior professors from the Management department. Completed her PHD from UC Berkeley recently. Her method of teaching, the anecdotes and examples she shared and the experience she's had in the industry really added immense value to the course.

I stayed at a non LSE accommodation known as ISH- international students house. ISH is a housing with students from various universities. Ish gives out of scholarships. The community is very culturally diverse, and conducts various events to enhance student experiences. They have opportunities to work in their cafes/ restaurants/ events as well. They have single and twin sharing rooms, would recommend an en-suite room. Floors are usually co-ed. They have apartments as well.
