Loughborough University Regional Manager South Asia: Mr. Robin Reeves Interview

Mr. Robin Reeves is the Regional Manager (South Asia), at the Loughborough University. He has been a regular visitor to India over the past 10+ years. He has helped countless Indian students begin their journey to study in the UK for various UK universities, including Loughborough University more recently. He has studied journalism at Staffordshire University and after working briefly in the media, he was able to begin his career in student recruitment and marketing. His enthusiasm for cricket has stemmed from numerous encounters with passionate Indian students in India.

Since its launch in India, how has Loughborough University evolved as a brand?

"The number of students aspiring to enroll has significantly increased"

The number of Indian students applying to the University has increased significantly over the past few years, despite the global pandemic and the uncertainty of overseas travel. A number of our students are recommended by previous students through word of mouth. As Loughborough’s top 10 UK ranking continues, we are able to see this growing trend continue, even when we are currently not able to visit India.

What are the University’s plans for the next five years?

“Aiming to partner with top brands on academic and commercial projects"

We hope to welcome future Indian students to one of our two campuses in future years. We have recently started teaching postgraduate programs in both October and January batches, each year. We are confident that the reputation and prestige of the University will continue to grow across India. With such good output, we may also be able to enter into partnerships with further high-quality institutions as well as commercial partners in future years. Tech Mahindra for instance has recently entered into a partnership with us.

What are your thoughts about blended and online learning?

“The best way to learn is a combination of online and offline training"

Students generally prefer to learn in person with offline teaching. However, the feedback on some of our online classes and support that students received during the past 12 months has been extremely positive. Future educational institutions may choose to teach students a blend of face-to-face and online methods.

Your advice to the future students who aspire to study at Loughborough.

“The extra effort you make now could really benefit your future studies” 

Work hard with your studies, as extra efforts now can really reward you with your future studies. Try to be open-minded and enjoy the many social aspects that the University offers along with studies. This includes participation in our many sports, clubs, and societies, as well as volunteering and participating in charities. Be prepared for the best few years of your lives ahead.

Which subjects areas are becoming popular at Loughborough University?

“AI, Business Analytics, Digital Marketing, and Design have become popular recently"

Loughborough University has always had a long history of welcoming Indian students to campus to study business, engineering or sports-related programs. In recent years specializations in Artificial Intelligence, Business Analytics and Digital Marketing have also become very popular. We have also noticed an increase in demand for our Design programs including MA User Experience.

How would you sum up Loughborough in one word?

“A united front of academics and togetherness”

I know it may sound cheesy but I would say ‘family’.
